Happy New Year!

Hello and welcome to another year of posts from Boone Appétit! I’m hoping all of you had a safe and fun New Year’s Eve. Every country has their traditions and I love them all! One of my favorites is to open the front door and sweep out the old year, then there’s the banging of bread on the walls to ensure good luck and rid your house of evil spirits! Let’s not forget the placing of coins in each corner of the house, eating long foods (like noodles), jumping off chairs, banging pots and pans and singing Auld Lang Syne! Then of course, for good luck, there’s the eating of black eyed peas or making Hopin’ John, find the recipe here. Right now I’m heating up some Menudo to eat for good luck and that leads me to open the windows for fresh air! I think I have many of the traditions covered!

Looking ahead to the blog I’m hoping to implement several changes. I’ll still be writing the blog and sending the emails and posting to Facebook, but I’m going to try and create videos to place on Facebook and Instagram Reels as well as having a few affiliate links to get you some great deals on cooking supplies while helping to keep the blog up and running.

I want to thank all of you that have stayed with me for so many years. I hope I have brought some value into your life and have given you a few recipes that you have found useful. I’m feeling good about 2023 and diving into it head first with all of you! Thanks again for all the support, and until next time Boone Appétit!

  1. Just had some black eyed peas soup from the vegan cafe in town! I didn’t know it gives good luck so if I get any, I know where I got it from, LOL!

Thanks for all of the great posts, Charlie. The videos etc sound exciting — looking forward to them — Happy New Year!

  2. A great post, Charlie. Happy New Year to you, too, whether you banged on pots and pans or bread on doorways! Enjoy a new year of recipes and travels!
