A Saturday Quickie

Sometimes headlines aren’t what you think, but in this case it is! I have a quick review of a restaurant in Nyack and a little news.

A few weeks ago I did take-out from Nyack’s local pasta shop DPNB Pasta And Provisions. The Chef Tony Scotto grew up in South Nyack and his wife Louiedell in Valley Cottage. They’re a perfect combo that make this place work. The store is located at 21 N. Broadway in Nyack. The pasta is made fresh daily and you can buy it by the pound or as I did in a meal. They also sell other items, hence the “Provisions” in their name. You can buy some of their delicious Focaccia bread or sausages and sauces and other items that I can’t list or this wouldn’t be a quick post! It’s worth the trip to go inside and have a look for yourself.

I ordered the house mixed green salad and the fresh baked Focaccia bread, the Rigatoni Bolognese made with heritage pork and the Treccionne made with butter and cheeses topped with black pepper. First I have to say the pasta is a step above any pasta you’ll get in town. You can’t beat fresh made pasta. It was cooked perfectly and accompanied by simple authentic sauces that sent the taste buds applauding. The bread had that crunchy chewy thing we all love and the salad topped off a great meal. The only thing that may be a problem for some was the price and portion size. We’re use to getting huge portions when it comes to pasta dishes at a price that’s a good deal because you usually get two meals out of it. Homemade pasta using better ingredients cost more to make and you will taste the difference so I’ll leave it up to you if you feel the price tag is worth it. That being said I do believe it’s worth the price but not something I’d do daily. It is a great local place and I would love to see them expand to indoor dining once our world settles down. So check them out online or drive by and see what’s on the menu for the day.

You ever had one of those days when the computer or a glitch won’t let you do what you want? Well I’m having one today and I’m afraid my pictures of the food won’t be appearing in the post. But you can check out their website galley here.

The next thing is I’m heading back out on the road, so stay tuned and hopefully I’ll come up with a few new places and couple of surprises along the way! Until next time Boone Appétit!

  1. Roost restaurant purchases in bulk from DPNB and includes their name when listing their pasta dishes. It’s very much appreciated by their customers!
