It’s Friday! Today we have a special local treat, a food truck located close to the Blauvelt Library on Route 303 just North of Erie street. 600 Route 303 in Blauvelt NY to be exact, it’s the home of Gracie’s Bulldog Grille. Named after the family Bulldog, Gracie. Chef AJ Servidio and his family serve up a delicious array of sandwiches and salads. Open Monday-Friday from 11-6, Saturday by appointment and closed on Sunday. Chef AJ is a graduate of the Culinary Institute Of America and has served as executive Chef for the 303 Sports Cafe and The Rockland Country Club. He brings his passion and expertise to Gracie’s, serving local Pat LaFrieda Meats and Cory’s pickles.
On this trip my cohort Barry Koch of The Blauvelt Library was kind enough to take some pictures of the Gracie’s Food Truck and pick up a couple sandwiches. I ordered Rico’s Cuban Sandwich which is roast pork, ham, Swiss cheese with spicy brown mustard and pickles. Everything is assembled then the sandwich is placed in a Panini press and grilled. I enjoyed my sandwich very much but wished I had more pickles on the sandwich. I find the pickles help give the sandwich it’s balance that can be overwhelmed by the two types of pork. Another fun addition is the option to get tater tots instead of fries. I went with the tots and they were a nice accompaniment for a change. Barry had the Little Piggy Steak Sandwich on the special board. This came with sauteed onions, American cheese on a garlic roasted Ciabatta hero. Everything according to Barry was complete perfection. Another item that makes the sandwiches fun are the choices of dipping sauces. Most food trucks have a signature dipping sauce and Gracie’s has Bulldog sauce, which might have a touch of Sriracha in it. The list of sauces is long and they’ll have one that will make you happy.
If you’d like to check out their menu you can find it here. I know it might be hard for most of you to visit during the week so if enough people request it, maybe they’ll open for lunch on Saturdays. The truck is also available for catering requests. Next time you’re driving down Route 303 in Blauvelt keep an eye out for the truck and give them a try, I’m sure you won’t be disappointed. If you’ve been to Gracie’s Bull Dog Grille please tell us about it in the box below, if you go please share your experience. Thanks for stopping by, and until next time Boone Appetit!
I got put onto Gracie’s several months ago, when they were located by a gas station across from Lowe’s in Orangeburg. A friend was propping their Cuban Sandwich. When they moved up to Blauvelt, I determined to try them out. The cheesesteak was excellent, and the fries were nice and crispy. At the window, Jen was friendly, open and conversational, and not at all averse to explaining the history of the business, even though she has to rerun it for new customers all day long. An enjoyable experience that I recommend. You have to be able to get there between 11- 6 weekdays, but it’s worth finding a way to do so!
Thanks for sharing your experience Barry.
